汽车零件污垢的种类和性质差异很大，有油泥、水垢、积炭、锈迹等固相油污及润滑油、脂的残留物等液相油污。水垢与锈迹常用酸洗洁去除；积炭较坚硬，且附着力强，仅有少数除油剂具有去除积炭的能力，实践证明除油剂去除积炭的效果较好。其他油污可根据要求选用除油剂除油。

要点二、选用金属除油剂应防止零件被腐蚀

要点三、选用金属除油剂要考虑除油条件

若具有蒸汽加热条件时，可选用高温型除油剂。以手工除油为主或被除油零件不宜加热时，则选用低温型及刺激性低的除油剂。采用机械除油和压力喷淋时，要选用低泡沫的除油剂。

除油剂的浓度与除油效果有很大关系，一般随着浓度的增加，去污能力也相应增强，但达到一定浓度后，去污能力不再明显提高。一般浓度控制在4%-5%为宜。若按照产品使用说明书配制的除油剂浓度去污效果不理想时，则不应再加大除油剂浓度，而应另选其他配方的除油剂。

一般情况下，随着除油剂温度的升高，其去污能力也随之提高，但超过一定温度后，去污能力反而下降。所以，每一种除油剂都有一个最适宜的温度范围，并不是温度越高越好。

要点六、选用金属除油剂要掌握除油剂的使用时间

一次配制的除油剂可以多次使用，其使用时间主要取决于除油零件的数量与除油剂的污染程度，一般情况下，一次配制的除油剂可以连续使用2周左右。
